About
Costa Blanca Today is an independent local guide for the Province of Alicante (Costa Blanca), Spain. We publish live weather, traffic, fiestas and civil-protection data alongside hand-written guides for the ~600,000 expats, second-home owners and residents who call this coast home.
What we cover
- Live data — weather, AEMET warnings, DGT traffic incidents, fuel prices. Updated through the day from the official Spanish open-data APIs (see data sources).
- Fiestas — the big annual calendar of Hogueras, Moros y Cristianos, Misteri d'Elx and the town patronal feasts. Dates, traditions and how to attend.
- Places & routes — hand-visited monuments, viewpoints, beaches, hikes and coastal walks. Editorial photos where we have them.
- Guides — practical evergreen content: NIE/TIE, dental tourism, property non-resident taxes, driving, moving.
- News — daily summaries of regional press, produced via a hybrid AI + editorial pipeline. See our editorial policy for how this works.
Independence & funding
Costa Blanca Today is solo-operated and self-funded. We don't take sponsored editorial placements. When we add revenue streams in the future (affiliate links to car rental, booking, property leads), they will be clearly marked and never influence what we publish.
Not affiliated with
We are not affiliated with Diputación de Alicante, Generalitat Valenciana, AEMET, DGT, or any political party. We republish their public data under Ley 37/2007 with attribution.
Languages
The site is published in English, Spanish, Polish, German and Dutch — the five languages that cover most of the Costa Blanca's established expat communities. Translations are either authored by humans (guides, fiestas, places, routes) or generated and reviewed (news). Each article carries its language code and the pipeline it went through in its metadata.
