Benijófar offers free land to young people to build their first home
Benijófar Council has approved a pioneering initiative to facilitate housing access for young people through the free allocation of municipal land in response to price increases driven by foreign buyers.
Benijófar Council has approved an innovative measure to help young people in the municipality access their first home. The initiative arises in response to the difficulties faced by residents of this town of 3,600 inhabitants in purchasing a house due to high land prices.
The price increase is attributed primarily to the purchase of second homes by Central European citizens, which has significantly increased land values in recent years.
The measure provides for the free allocation of municipal land to young people who meet certain requirements so they can build their first home. This pioneering initiative seeks to stem youth depopulation and ensure that local residents can remain in their municipality.
The specific requirements and conditions of the allocation will be developed in subsequent regulations that will establish criteria for age, residence and other aspects necessary to access the programme.
