Compromís proposes changing the law to allocate protected housing by lottery
The Compromís coalition is proposing to amend regional regulations so that social housing is assigned through a public lottery rather than the current system.
Compromís has presented a proposal to reform regional legislation on protected housing in the province of Alicante. The initiative seeks to establish a lottery as the method for allocating social housing (VPO).
The coalition argues that the current system creates opacity and inequality in access to this type of housing, which is intended for families with fewer economic resources.
The proposal aims to increase transparency and guarantee equal opportunities for all applicants who meet the established requirements. The legislative change would require approval in the Cortes Valencianas.
The measure forms part of the debate on affordable housing policies, a particularly sensitive issue on the Costa Blanca due to property market pressure and rising prices.
