Tax Deductions in Income Tax Returns: Up to 9,000 Euros for Energy Upgrades
Taxpayers can claim up to 9,000 euros in their income tax returns for renovations that improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
Hacienda allows tax deductions of up to 9,000 euros for those who carry out energy upgrades in their homes. The deductions vary according to the type of improvement: 20% for works that reduce heating and cooling demand by 7%, and 40% for improvements that reduce primary energy consumption by 30%.
Taxpayers must obtain an energy performance certificate before and after the work to demonstrate the improvement. The time frame for carrying out these renovations and applying the deduction is limited.
These subsidies aim to encourage the renovation of Spain’s housing stock and reduce the energy consumption of homes. Residents on the Costa Blanca can benefit from these deductions when filing their next income tax return.
