Parliament calls for greater clarity in social housing after Les Naus but rejects key controls
The Spanish Parliament partially approves a PSOE initiative to strengthen social housing controls following the Les Naus scandal in Alicante, but rejects essential monitoring measures.
The Spanish Parliament has backed only part of the PSOE’s proposal to tighten controls over the allocation of social housing, a measure prompted by cases of alleged irregularities such as that of Les Naus in Alicante.
The parliamentary initiative sought to establish clearer and more transparent criteria in the allocation processes for social housing, avoiding situations of opacity that have generated controversy.
However, the plenary has rejected several monitoring mechanisms considered key by the proposal’s promoters, limiting the scope of the reform.
The Les Naus case in Alicante has been one of the most frequently cited examples in the debate over the need for greater oversight in this type of allocation.
