Spain accumulates a deficit of 730,000 homes since 2021 due to population growth
CaixaBank Research estimates that the Spanish property market suffers from a deficit exceeding 730,000 homes since 2021 owing to population increase.
The Spanish property market faces a serious housing shortage, accumulating a deficit of more than 730,000 units since 2021, according to data from CaixaBank Research.
This shortfall is primarily due to the population growth recorded in recent years, which has not been matched by a proportional increase in the construction of new homes.
The situation affects both buyers and tenants throughout Spain, including the province of Alicante, where pressure on the property market is intensified by tourist and residential demand.
Experts warn that this gap between supply and demand will continue to exert upward pressure on purchase and rental prices unless the construction of new housing is significantly increased.
