OCU warns: new obligation for communities with lifts from 1st July
A 2024 regulation on lifts establishes stricter maintenance and inspection obligations that come into force on 1st July.
The Organisation of Consumers and Users (OCU) has reminded that from 1st July, new regulations on lifts come into full force, establishing stricter obligations regarding maintenance and inspections.
The regulation, approved in 2024, requires homeowners’ communities to carry out more rigorous periodic checks and, in some cases, to make technical modifications to existing equipment to ensure greater safety.
These changes represent an additional cost for communities, which must adapt their installations and strengthen review protocols. The measure aims to reduce accidents and improve the conditions of lift use in residential buildings.
The OCU recommends that communities inform themselves in advance about the specific requirements and plan the necessary budget to comply with the new regulations before the deadline.
