The Policía Nacional has arrested a 59-year-old man in Benidorm on suspicion of fraud, misappropriation and document forgery.
The detained man advertised tourist and long-term rental properties without being the owner or having any rights over them, pocketing the money from the bookings.
The investigations began following several complaints from tourists and tenants who paid for accommodation that either did not exist or to which they had no access.
The arrested man used falsified documentation to appear legitimate in the transactions. The police operation continues to identify possible additional victims.
