Russian community in Alicante commemorates Victory Day over Nazism
Around a hundred people of Russian origin and from former Soviet republics gathered in Alicante to remember those who fell in the Second World War.
On Saturday 9th May, the Russian community resident in Alicante celebrated Victory Day over Nazism in the Second World War, a date of great historical significance for the countries of the former Soviet Union.
Around a hundred people of Russian origin and from other former Soviet republics took part in the commemorative event held in the city.
The day served to pay tribute to the millions of victims who lost their lives during the armed conflict, keeping historical memory alive amongst the large Russian community settled in the province of Alicante.
These kinds of celebrations reflect the strong presence of residents from Eastern Europe on the Costa Blanca, where various foreign communities maintain their traditions and significant dates.
