EU to charge 3 euros extra on Shein, Temu and AliExpress parcels from 1st July
From 1st July, online purchases on platforms such as Shein, Temu or AliExpress will no longer be as economical due to changes in European Union regulations.
The European Union will modify its regulations from 1st July, which will directly affect those who shop on popular Asian platforms such as Shein, Temu or AliExpress. Parcels from these online retailers will carry an additional cost of 3 euros.
This measure forms part of European regulatory changes aimed at levelling the commercial and tax playing field between foreign and local sellers. Consumers on the Costa Blanca who regularly make purchases on these platforms will notice the impact on their orders.
The new regulation seeks to close tax loopholes that allowed these Asian e-commerce giants to offer highly competitive prices. The additional charge will be applied automatically at customs to all shipments from outside the EU.
Residents and expatriates who frequently turn to these online shops for their low prices will need to consider this extra cost when making their purchases from next month.
