More than 600 runners tour Alicante visiting nine hogueras: 'The Fiesta isn't just night-time and alcohol'
Three groups with more than 600 runners crossed Alicante from the Ayuntamiento to PAU 2, visiting nine hogueras on a route that combines sport and the Hogueras de San Juan festivities.
This Sunday, more than 600 runners took part in a unique way of experiencing the Hogueras de Alicante, combining sport and festive tradition. The initiative aimed to demonstrate that the Hogueras de San Juan offer more than just night-time life.
The route began at the Ayuntamiento and finished at PAU 2, passing through closed streets, monuments and hoguera racós. The three groups of runners visited a total of nine hogueras during the course.
The organisers highlighted the message that “the Fiesta isn’t just night-time and alcohol”, promoting an alternative and healthy way to enjoy the celebrations. The activity allowed participants to discover different hogueras whilst practising physical exercise.
This initiative adds to the multiple activities that take place during the Hogueras de Alicante, showcasing the diversity of options for residents and visitors beyond the traditional night-time events.
