Aigües d'Elx launches plan for San Antón ravine with €33 million investment
The joint-venture company will allocate €33 million by 2030 for sanitation works and a masterplan to prevent flooding on the Santa Pola road using wetlands.
Aigües d’Elx has presented a strategic plan for the period 2026-2030 that will mobilise around €33 million, excluding VAT. The company, 51% owned by Elche (Elx) Ayuntamiento and 49% by Veolia, will invest in sanitation, water supply, innovation and reclaimed water.
One of the main initiatives is the masterplan for the San Antón ravine, which aims to prevent recurring flooding on the Santa Pola road. The proposed solution relies on the use of wetlands as a water retention and management system.
The project is part of a comprehensive strategy to improve the water cycle in Elche, combining traditional infrastructure with nature-based solutions to guarantee the municipality’s safety and sustainability.
