Alacant Desperta protests at Town Hall after veto on neighbourhood cultural activities
The platform Alacant Desperta gathered around 300 people in protest following the council's refusal to authorise their cultural tour of Alicante's neighbourhoods.
The citizens’ platform Alacant Desperta called a protest this Saturday in the Ayuntamiento square in Alicante following the council’s refusal to authorise their cultural activities scheduled in the city’s neighbourhoods.
According to the organisation, around 300 people gathered outside the town hall to show their opposition to the veto imposed by the Ayuntamiento on the cultural tour they had planned.
The platform denounces that municipal authorities are blocking citizen-led cultural initiatives aimed at revitalising Alicante’s different neighbourhoods.
The protest reflects the discontent amongst sectors of the public who believe that the Ayuntamiento is limiting the use of public spaces for cultural and participatory activities in the city’s various districts.
