Alicante pedestrianises section in San Gabriel to protect schoolchildren
The Council completes the pedestrianisation of part of Cocentaina street in San Gabriel to reinforce road safety around the neighbourhood's schools.
Alicante Council has completed the pedestrianisation of a section of Cocentaina street in the San Gabriel neighbourhood, with the aim of improving road safety in the vicinity of the area’s schools.
The intervention seeks to create a safer environment for schoolchildren who travel daily along this road, eliminating vehicle traffic in a particularly sensitive part of the neighbourhood.
This measure forms part of the Council’s initiatives to protect minors on their journeys to school, prioritising pedestrian mobility over vehicle traffic in school zones.
The pedestrianisation of Cocentaina adds to other similar initiatives implemented in different neighbourhoods across the city to guarantee safer and more accessible environments for the educational community.
