Car catches fire in Benitatxell causing large plume of smoke near town centre

A vehicle caught fire on Friday on a track near the town centre of Poble Nou de Benitatxell, causing alarm amongst local residents.

The incident produced a large column of smoke visible from various points across the municipality, initially causing concern amongst residents.

Emergency services attended the scene quickly to extinguish the flames and bring the situation under control. No injuries have been reported, nor any additional damage beyond the affected vehicle.

Benitatxell, also known as Poble Nou de Benitatxell, is a small coastal municipality in the Marina Alta, in the province of Alicante.
