Calpe expresses concern over fish farm discharges at Penyal d'Ifach Board meeting
Calpe Town Council raised its concerns about effluent from the local fish farm at the Penyal d'Ifach Natural Park Governing Board.
The Penyal d’Ifach Natural Park Governing Board met last Thursday, the first meeting since December 2022. During the meeting, Calpe Town Council expressed its concern about discharges generated by the fish farm located in the area.
Municipal representatives addressed the environmental impact of this effluent on the protected natural environment of Penyal d’Ifach, an iconic area of the Alicante coast. The issue has sparked debate amongst board members about the need to strengthen monitoring and protection measures.
The Governing Board is the body responsible for the management and conservation of the natural park. After more than two years without meeting, it resumes its activity with this environmental issue as one of the priority matters on Calpe’s local agenda.
