Cruz Roja to address unwanted loneliness in Alicante with over 800 weekly interventions
Alicante City Council has awarded Cruz Roja the service for preventing and addressing unwanted loneliness in people over 60, with more than 800 weekly interventions planned.
Alicante City Council has awarded Cruz Roja Española the municipal service for preventing and addressing situations of unwanted loneliness, aimed at people over 60 years of age.
The programme plans to carry out more than 800 weekly interventions over the coming year, supporting this vulnerable group suffering from social isolation.
This service aims to detect, prevent and accompany elderly people who find themselves in situations of loneliness, improving their quality of life and emotional wellbeing.
The initiative forms part of the municipal policies on social care and active ageing, responding to a growing problem in today’s urban societies.
