Cruz Roja removes 200 kilos of waste from the River Vinalopó in Elche
Cruz Roja volunteers collected around 200 kilos of rubbish from the Vinalopó riverbed during a clean-up event for World Environment Day.
Cruz Roja organised a clean-up and environmental awareness day on Friday along the River Vinalopó as it passes through Elche, coinciding with World Environment Day.
Volunteers removed approximately 200 kilos of various waste, including tyres, plastics of all kinds and other rubbish accumulated in the riverbed.
The activity formed part of the environmental awareness initiatives that the organisation regularly carries out in the province. The aim is to raise public awareness about the importance of keeping natural spaces clean and reducing the impact of waste on the environment.
The Vinalopó clean-up highlights the problem of uncontrolled dumping affecting river courses in the area.
