Dénia connects 40 beach foot showers to drinking water amid Consell inaction

The Dénia town council has been forced to repair and connect 40 of the 99 foot showers on its beaches to the drinking water network, given the lack of response from the Consell.

The Dénia beaches councillor, Pepe Doménech, has admitted that the situation is not desirable. The only operational foot showers across Dénia’s 12 kilometres of beaches are those which the town council itself has repaired and connected to the drinking water network.

Responsibility for these facilities lies with the Consell, but faced with its inaction, the local council has been forced to step in to guarantee the service for bathers during the beach season.

In total, of the 99 foot showers installed along the Dénia coastline, only 40 are currently working thanks to the municipal initiative. The use of drinking water for these facilities, whilst not the ideal option, has been the only alternative found by the town council to solve the problem.
