41-year-old man arrested accused of causing 24 forest fires in Serra Grossa
The Guardia Civil is investigating a man for allegedly causing two dozen fires with petrol in the Serra Grossa area of Alicante.
Officers from the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Guardia Civil, in collaboration with environmental agents from the Generalitat Valenciana, have investigated a 41-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of 24 offences against collective safety.
The forest fires are believed to have been deliberately started with petrol in the Serra Grossa area of Alicante, a natural space close to the city.
The authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the facts and determine the responsibilities of the accused. Forest fires pose a serious risk to the environment and the safety of residents in nearby areas.
Serra Grossa is one of the most emblematic green spaces in the Alicante capital, which is why these alleged arson attacks have generated particular concern amongst neighbours and local authorities.
