Education Department offers agreement to striking teachers without including pay rise
The Conselleria presents a proposal to end the teachers' strike that excludes the main demand of the teaching staff: a salary increase.
The Conselleria de Educación has presented an offer to the trade unions in an attempt to resolve the dispute that has kept teachers on strike. However, the preliminary agreement does not include one of the fundamental demands of the teachers: a pay rise.
The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, indicated yesterday that the financial proposal would be left out of the negotiations. The offer focuses on other improvements to working conditions, leaving the pay issue unresolved.
The trade unions must now consider whether to accept the agreement or continue with the industrial action in the absence of any salary commitments. The strike has caused disruption in schools across the province of Alicante in recent weeks.
