Alicante-Elche airport to improve capacity with new boarding gates
Whilst the airport expansion is not expected for at least another ten years, capacity improvements will be implemented with new boarding gates and a rapid exit taxiway.
Alicante-Elche airport will implement improvements to its operational capacity whilst awaiting an expansion that will not materialise for at least another decade.
The planned works include the addition of new boarding gates that will allow more flights to be handled simultaneously, as well as a rapid exit taxiway on the runway that will speed up air traffic.
These provisional improvements aim to respond to the growth in passenger traffic at the airport facilities, especially during the peak tourist season.
The major airport expansion, although necessary according to the authorities, faces a prolonged time frame due to the complexity of the project and the administrative procedures required.
