Elche Council removes pedáneo of Arenales del Sol following sexual harassment complaint

The municipal government of Elche, formed by PP and Vox, has removed the pedáneo of Arenales del Sol after becoming aware of a criminal complaint regarding an alleged case of sexual harassment.

Mayor Pablo Ruz has justified the dismissal on the basis of this complaint, although the case is still under investigation and there is no final court ruling.

The decision affects the management of one of Elche’s most important coastal districts, located next to Alicante airport. The Ayuntamiento has not provided further details about the process or who will assume the duties of the dismissed pedáneo.

The coalition has acted swiftly after learning of the complaint, in a move that sparks debate about the political handling of ongoing judicial cases.
