El Campello installs adapted beach flags for colour-blind people
El Campello advances in inclusivity with the installation of beach flags designed specifically for people with colour blindness.
The municipality of El Campello has taken a significant step towards accessibility and inclusion on its beaches through the installation of adapted flags for colour-blind people.
This initiative allows bathers with this visual condition to easily identify the state of the sea and safety conditions, something that until now has been difficult with the traditional system of colour-coded flags.
The measure is part of the council’s inclusivity policies, seeking to ensure that all residents and visitors can enjoy the beaches with the same safety conditions and access to information.
Colour blindness affects approximately 8% of men and 0.5% of women, making it difficult to distinguish between certain colours, especially reds and greens.
