Consell postpones negotiations with striking teachers until fourth week of stoppages
The Conselleria de Educación delays the continuation of negotiations with teachers' unions until the fourth week of the strike, whilst remaining open to new improvements.
The Conselleria de Educación has decided to postpone negotiations with teaching unions until the fourth week of the teachers’ strike affecting the Valencian region, including the province of Alicante.
The unions are maintaining a united front, demanding smaller class sizes, reinforcement of teaching staff numbers and improvements to educational infrastructure. These demands have brought previous talks to a standstill.
Despite the delay in negotiations, the Conselleria has shown itself open to making further improvements to teachers’ working conditions, although it has not specified which concrete measures it is willing to implement.
The strike continues to affect educational centres throughout the Valencian Community, with a direct impact on families and students on the Costa Blanca.
