The creator of Elche's Baroque nativity scene unveils altar in Corpus Christi procession
The Corpus Christi procession departed from the Basilica of Santa María in Elche, showcasing the new altar created by the artist behind the city's Baroque nativity scene.
The Corpus Christi procession set off shortly after 7.20pm from the Basilica of Santa María in Elche, in a celebration that featured a floral carpet specially crafted for the occasion.
The Blessed Sacrament crossed the floral carpet on its return, before entering the church, in a highlight of the religious ceremony.
One of the main attractions was the unveiling of a new processional altar created by the same artist responsible for Elche’s renowned Baroque nativity scene, a work that has gained prominence in the city.
The Corpus Christi celebration forms part of Elche’s traditional festive calendar, bringing together the faithful and residents around this important religious feast.
