Elche's Hort del Gat to reopen before the August Fiestas following restoration
Elche's local government plans to inaugurate the historic Hort del Gat before the August Fiestas with a public celebration, after completing comprehensive restoration works.
Elche’s bipartite government has set the reopening of the emblematic Hort del Gat for before the August Fiestas, following decades of deterioration. Mayor Pablo Ruz has confirmed that the inauguration will be celebrated with a festival open to all residents.
Comprehensive restoration works are currently being carried out on this large historic orchard, which will completely transform the space. The works are progressing as planned to meet the established deadline.
The reopening of the Hort del Gat will represent the recovery of one of Elche’s most significant heritage sites, which will once again be available to residents and visitors. The inauguration event will mark an important milestone for the city before its summer festivities.
