El Pas de la Burreta in Elche to incorporate children and the figure of Saint John in its sculptural ensemble
The traditional Palm Sunday procession in Elche will expand its iconic float with new images to better represent Jesus's entry into Jerusalem.
El Pas de la Burreta, one of the most emblematic moments of Holy Week in Elche, is preparing for a historic renewal. The Palm Sunday procession will incorporate new figures into the sculptural ensemble depicting Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
Amongst the new features are the inclusion of children’s images and the figure of Saint John, thereby reinforcing the family character and biblical faithfulness of the scene. This expansion seeks to enrich a tradition deeply rooted in Elche.
The Junta Mayor de Cofradías is driving this initiative to update and expand one of the most beloved floats amongst the people of Elche, maintaining its traditional essence whilst adapting to new expectations of religious representation.
