PP approves Benidorm's €224 million budget alone with Serra Gelada payment
Benidorm Town Council approves a municipal budget of €224 million without opposition support, which includes the payment plan for the Serra Gelada ruling of €60 million.
The plenary session of Benidorm Town Council approved this Thursday the municipal budget for 2026, amounting to €224 million, with only the votes of the Partido Popular in favour. The vote was marked by tense political debate between the municipal groups.
The budget includes the Financial Economic Plan necessary to deal with the payment arising from the court ruling on Serra Gelada, which amounts to €60 million. This plan sets out the deadlines and conditions for meeting the municipal debt.
The sole approval by the PP reflects the lack of consensus in the Benidorm council over the municipal accounts. The opposition has maintained critical positions during the plenary debate, although they have not managed to modify the budget proposal presented by the government team.
