PP leaves Vox isolated in Elche in its attempt to block migrant regularisation
The People's Party distanced itself from Vox at Elche town council by refusing to support a motion against migrant regularisation.
The People’s Party has left Vox isolated at Elche town council after refusing to support a motion presented by the far-right party against migrant regularisation in Spain.
This is not the first occasion during this term that both parties have voted differently at the Elche council, highlighting differences on key issues despite sharing space in the opposition.
Vox’s motion, which sought to position the town council against the central government’s migration policies, did not receive support from the PP, leaving the initiative isolated.
This distancing reflects internal tensions within the right at local level and sets a precedent for how both parties manage sensitive issues of a national nature at town council meetings.
