The bipartite government of Elche has decided to cancel the concert by singer Beret that was planned for the August Fiestas, following news of his recent arrest for an alleged sexual assault offence.
The musical programme for the municipal marquee at the Universidad Miguel Hernández had been presented just over a week ago, with performances scheduled between 7th and 14th August.
The municipal decision comes after the artist was detained by authorities in connection with the aforementioned offence. The Ayuntamiento has opted to remove his performance from the festival lineup for the August celebrations.
The August Fiestas of Elche are one of the city’s main festive events, and the council must now reorganise the musical programme planned for these dates.
