Elche launches new Management and Use Plan for the Palmeral with irrigators and palm cultivators
Elche Town Hall has convened a technical meeting with irrigators, palm cultivators and producers to draft the new Management and Use Plan for the Palmeral.
Elche Town Hall has begun the technical work to develop the new Management and Use Plan for the Palmeral, a heritage site of the city. The first phase of the process has started with a key meeting that includes irrigators, palm cultivators and producers directly linked to the Palmeral.
The council has designed a participatory process in several stages. Following this initial technical meeting with the productive sectors, the consultation process will be opened to other organisations and groups interested in the management of the Palmeral.
Once all the technical and social contributions have been gathered, the document will be submitted to the Local Governing Board and subsequently to the municipal plenary for final approval. The aim is to update the regulations governing the use and conservation of this unique space, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
