Off-duty Guardia Civil officer detains three thieves who stole €3,000 in Villena
An off-duty Guardia Civil officer surprised and detained three criminals who had just stolen €3,000 from a woman in Villena using the 'snatch-and-grab' method.
An off-duty Guardia Civil officer managed to intercept three suspected thieves in the streets of Villena after they committed a violent robbery against a woman.
The criminals, known as ‘cogoteros’, stole €3,000 from the victim using the snatch-and-grab method. The officer, who was in the area during his time off, witnessed the events and acted immediately.
Thanks to his swift intervention, the three suspects were caught red-handed before they could flee with the loot. The stolen amount was recovered and returned to the owner.
The Guardia Civil has placed the detainees at the disposal of the courts. This type of violent robbery has become a growing concern in several towns across the province.
