Spanish Navy updates nautical charts in waters off Alicante, Tabarca and Santa Pola
The Hydrographic Institute of the Navy is conducting a campaign to update bathymetric and cartographic information in key navigation areas in these waters.
The Hydrographic Institute of the Navy is carrying out a hydrographic campaign in the waters of Alicante, Santa Pola and Tabarca with the aim of updating the nautical charts of the area.
The work focuses on reviewing bathymetric information—sea depths—and cartographic data from various areas of interest for maritime navigation. This update is essential to guarantee the safety of commercial, leisure and passenger vessels.
The campaign forms part of the Navy’s regular work to keep nautical charts of the Spanish coastline up to date. The waters around Tabarca, with heavy tourist boat traffic, are one of the priority areas of this project.
The data collected will be used to produce more accurate nautical charts, benefiting both professional mariners and recreational users of these coastal waters.
