Comunidad Valenciana to receive €9 million less for Dependency Care for failing to meet targets

The Government is reducing state funding for Dependency Care to the Comunitat for not achieving targets on waiting lists, quality of services and employment generated.

The Comunidad Valenciana will receive 9 million euros less in state funding allocated to the Dependency Care System due to what the central Government describes as “poor management”. The cut is a response to the failure to meet the so-called “improvement targets”.

These targets are established based on criteria such as employment generated in the sector, reduction of waiting lists and the quality of services provided. The Comunitat has not achieved the goals set in these areas, which has resulted in the financial penalty.

The reduction in funding will affect assistance for people in situations of dependency throughout the region, including the province of Alicante, where thousands of users depend on these services for their daily care.

The measure highlights the tensions between the regional Government and the central Government regarding the management of social services, in a context of growing demand for dependency care.
