Consell investment in Alicante schools rises 27% to nearly 30 million
The education budget for Alicante province reaches historic figures whilst the indefinite teachers' strike continues.
The Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Universidades is increasing its investment in schools and colleges in Alicante province by 27%, approaching 30 million euros. This rise forms part of a global budget for the conselleria which increases from 7.299 to 7.749 billion euros, a rise of 6.2%.
The Consell describes this financial allocation as “historic”, consolidating Education as the second conselleria with the largest budget. The accounts were presented by the team of President Juanfran Pérez Llorca.
This investment comes amidst labour tensions, with teachers in the Comunidad Valenciana maintaining an indefinite strike. The announcement of the budget increase has not managed to defuse the conflict with teaching staff, who continue with their demands.
