Alicante opposition calls for concrete timelines and neighbourhood participation for Parque Central
Municipal opposition groups are demanding details on timelines and citizen participation in the Parque Central project, despite progress on the draft funding agreement.
Alicante’s Parque Central continues to move forward after the draft funding agreement was presented on Wednesday. However, the municipal opposition groups agree that important aspects still need to be clarified.
The opposition parties are calling on the municipal government to establish concrete timelines for implementing the project. They also insist on the need to guarantee neighbourhood participation in the development of this green space, one of the city’s most ambitious urban planning projects.
The Parque Central is set to transform the land freed up by the burial of the railway tracks into a large green area that will connect different neighbourhoods of Alicante. Despite consensus on its importance, doubts persist about implementation details and citizen participation mechanisms.
