A 32-year-old patient remains hospitalised under preventive measures after travelling on the same flight as a woman who died from hantavirus.
A 32-year-old woman from Alicante remains hospitalised at Hospital Sant Joan de Alicante under strict preventive measures for possible hantavirus infection.
The patient travelled on the same aeroplane as another woman who died days later after contracting the virus. Health authorities are maintaining close surveillance over her clinical progress.
Hantavirus is a rare viral disease transmitted primarily through infected rodents. Initial symptoms may include fever, muscle aches and fatigue.
The hospital has activated all established safety protocols for such cases whilst awaiting the patient’s progress and the results of the corresponding diagnostic tests.
