Mutxamel approves its roadmap towards sustainability with more pedestrian zones and bicycles

The Alicante municipality is driving forward an urban mobility plan that prioritises pedestrians, bicycles and public transport, reducing heat islands.

Mutxamel has presented its strategic plan to become a more sustainable and environmentally friendly municipality. The initiative envisages a profound transformation of the current urban mobility model.

The project prioritises the creation of new pedestrian zones and the expansion of cycle lanes, facilitating the use of non-polluting means of transport. In addition, public transport will be promoted as an alternative to private vehicles.

Among the main objectives is the reduction of urban heat islands, a growing problem in Mediterranean municipalities. The plan seeks to improve air quality and the liveability of the urban environment.

The measures form part of a comprehensive strategy that positions Mutxamel as a benchmark in sustainable mobility in the province of Alicante.
