PP and Vox reject motion defending public education in El Campello amid jeers
The municipal council meeting, which lasted more than five and a half hours, rejected two opposition motions on public education and the fire service consortium, whilst approving two others.
The Ayuntamiento of El Campello held another marathon council meeting that lasted more than five and a half hours. The four motions presented by the opposition had mixed results: two were approved and two rejected.
The motion in defence of public education was one of those rejected by votes against from PP and Vox, a decision that provoked jeers amongst those attending the council meeting. The governing groups voted as a bloc against this opposition initiative.
The plenary session was characterised by its lengthy duration and the tension generated around some of the items on the agenda, especially those related to municipal public services.
The debate on public education and other local issues reflected the political differences between the governing team and the opposition in the coastal municipality in Alicante province.
