Teachers from IES Las Lomas protest during PAU exams at the University of Alicante
Teachers from IES Las Lomas staged a protest with banners and chants during the University Access Tests, as part of the education strike they are carrying out in the Comunidad Valenciana.
A group of teachers from IES Las Lomas in Alicante staged a protest on Tuesday during the University Access Tests (PAU) at the University of Alicante. The teachers, who were accompanying their students, unfurled banners and chanted slogans of “vaga educativa” (education strike).
The demonstration is part of the strike that teachers in the Comunidad Valenciana have been maintaining for four weeks. The teachers are demanding improvements in working and educational conditions in the sector.
The protest took place whilst students were sitting their selectivity exams, generating some controversy over the timing and location chosen for the demonstration. The PAU exams continued as normal despite the teachers’ action.
