Health authorities considering home quarantine for woman admitted with possible hantavirus in Alicante

A 32-year-old woman admitted to Hospital de Sant Joan as a follow-up contact of hantavirus could move to home quarantine for up to 42 days.

The Ministry of Health is considering the possibility of a 32-year-old woman, currently admitted to Hospital de Sant Joan de Alicante, completing her quarantine period at home. The patient remains under monitoring as a contact of a hantavirus case.

According to health authorities, the quarantine could extend for up to 42 days. This measure forms part of the epidemiological surveillance protocol for this type of virus, which is transmitted mainly through contact with rodents or their droppings.

The final decision on transferring to home quarantine will depend on the patient’s clinical progress and the isolation conditions in her home. Health authorities are maintaining close monitoring of the case to prevent any risk of spread.
