Health authorities take new sample for third PCR test on patient with suspected hantavirus in Alicante
A 32-year-old woman remains isolated at Hospital de Sant Joan de Alicante whilst undergoing a third PCR test to confirm or rule out hantavirus.
Health authorities have taken a new sample from the 32-year-old patient admitted to Hospital de Sant Joan de Alicante with suspected hantavirus, in order to carry out a third PCR test.
The woman continues to show no symptoms and remains isolated in the hospital, where she will complete the quarantine period established by health protocol.
Hantavirus is a viral disease transmitted primarily by rodents. Health authorities are maintaining precautionary measures whilst awaiting the definitive results of the tests carried out.
This is a case under close epidemiological surveillance, although the patient is progressing favourably without manifesting symptoms associated with the infection.
