Satse accuses Sanidad minister of blocking implementation of 35-hour week
The nursing union criticises Marciano Gómez for delaying an agreement signed in 2023 to reduce working hours in Valencian public healthcare.
The Nursing Union Satse criticised the Sanidad minister, Marciano Gómez, on Wednesday for deliberately blocking the agreement to implement the 35-hour working week in public healthcare in the Comunidad Valenciana.
According to Satse, the agreement was signed in March 2023 and does not need to be renegotiated. The union accuses the minister of inventing excuses to delay its implementation since taking office.
The reduction in working hours is a long-standing demand of Valencian healthcare staff, who believe that a 35-hour week would improve working conditions and the quality of care.
This complaint comes against a backdrop of tension in the healthcare sector, which has seen recent mobilisations over working conditions and patient care.
