A woman admitted to a hospital in Alicante has received a second negative result in hantavirus tests carried out.
Health authorities had performed preventive analyses following suspicion of possible infection with this virus, which is transmitted mainly through rodents.
Following confirmation of two consecutive negative PCR tests, the presence of hantavirus in the patient has been ruled out, which comes as a relief for the local health system.
Follow-up tests will continue according to protocol to determine the origin of the symptoms that led to her hospital admission.
