Six thousand patients left unattended in Alicante on Monday due to doctors' strike
The national doctors' strike caused the cancellation of six thousand appointments and procedures in Alicante on Monday alone, with further disruption expected.
The doctors’ strike taking place this week at a national level continues to generate a high number of cancellations in Alicante’s healthcare system. On Monday alone, approximately 6,000 patients went without medical attention in the province.
The cancellations affect both scheduled appointments and non-urgent surgical procedures. The mobilisation forms part of a protest extending across the entire country and will continue over the coming days.
Emergency services remain operational with minimum staffing levels, although the impact on scheduled care is considerable. Health authorities are working to reschedule cancelled appointments once the strike ends.
