Residents on the outskirts of Agost reject paying rubbish collection tax without receiving the service
Residents in rural areas of Agost are protesting against having to pay the waste collection tax despite lacking nearby bins.
Residents of the rural areas of Agost have launched a protest against the charge for rubbish collection tax, arguing that they do not receive the service for which they pay. Those living on the outskirts report the absence of bins in their areas, which forces them to travel to the town centre to deposit their waste.
The controversy arises following the issuing of bills by the consortium Suma, which is responsible for tax management. Those affected are questioning the legality of charging a tax for a service that, they claim, is not adequately provided in their residential areas.
Residents are demanding that Agost town council find a solution to the problem, either through the installation of bins on the outskirts or exemption from paying the tax. The situation has generated a climate of discontent amongst the rural population of the municipality, who feel discriminated against compared to residents of the town centre.
