Residents and environmental groups organised a unique protest on Saturday at Albufereta beach in Alicante to denounce the pollution affecting the city’s bay.
The demonstrators walked along the beach covered in sand, mud, wet wipes and other debris, in a protest action seeking to raise awareness of the problem of discharges that continue to pollute coastal waters.
The protest highlights public concern about the environmental state of the Alicante bay and the demand for effective solutions to end the discharges.
The participating groups are calling on the authorities to take urgent measures to preserve the water quality and marine biodiversity of the coastal area of Alicante.
