The Hogueras de San Juan in Alicante kicked off with a brilliant opening day in which three pyrotechnic companies earned public recognition.
The pyrotechnic firms Vilau, Casado and Cuartero stood out for their spectacular displays, being honoured with the traditional shoulder-high procession after their performances in the Plaza de los Luceros.
This opening marks the official start of Alicante’s most important festivities, which are held in honour of San Juan and attract thousands of visitors each year, both locals and tourists.
The Hogueras will continue over the coming days with a full programme of mascletàs, plantàs de monumentos and other festive events until the night of the cremà.
