Xàbia closes cove due to rockfalls and risk of falls after years of accidents
The Ayuntamiento closes a popular cove known for reckless cliff jumping due to rockfalls and high risk of accidents.
Xàbia has closed to the public a cove that in recent summers had recorded daily accident reports caused by reckless jumping from the rocks.
The municipal decision is due to recent rockfalls in the area and the high risk of bathers suffering falls from the cliffs. This historic cove had become a regular site for rescues and emergencies.
Local authorities have fenced off access to prevent further incidents. The area will remain closed until safety conditions are assessed and necessary works are carried out to guarantee visitors’ protection.
The measure seeks to prevent tragedies at a site that, despite its appeal, presented dangerous conditions for bathers who engaged in reckless jumping.
